Frequently Asked Questions
Short answer no. We need kids of higher skill level to play with their peers and it will make those around them better is my simple answer and not meant to be a stubborn one. So happy to discuss as needed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We already do; we call them Grad Year teams and we hold evaluations every July. There are added costs to these teams as they play in Fall & Summer tournaments, as well as playing their Spring season in one of the nation’s most competitive youth lacrosse leagues GHCLC.
Through a very fundamental lens. Players that exhibit a more consistent pattern of applying the fundamentals – scooping, cradling, throwing, catching – would be considered at a higher skill level and would be placed as such. Application during the “pace of play” is also evaluated. Understanding space and positioning is helpful but not key at the younger age levels (Tyker). Lighting and up is when we will start to really focus on position skill sets in addition to game IQ, and overall fundamental skill set level.
It varies across age groups. But soft stick will be Saturday AMs. The other age groups play games on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Practice nights and frequency during the week will vary depending on the coaches discretion.
Yes, particularly at the younger levels. We have coordinated with CMRC Baseball that all age groups through machine/kid pitch will end at 11 AM on Saturday mornings. This will allow the Soft Stick and Clinic age groups to play both where they want to as we will start at 11:30am or later most likely for those age groups.
Each registration form will ask if a parent wants to Volunteer to be a Coach, please select YES! Boys Lax also has a Coaching Committee that focuses on Coaching Development. For any questions, please reach out directly to Brad Ferriell at bferriell@gmail.com.

The focus of our program will be on the development of the fundamentals of lacrosse from the ground up. Leveraging a “teaching” mentality, our goal will be to create a fun, hardworking, and high character environment to learn the game of lacrosse.
The focus of CMRC Lacrosse will not be about winning or the outcome of the game. Rather the focus will be on learning the elements and fundamentals of the game that enable us to get better every time we strap it on.
The byproduct of following a philosophy like this will lead to great results in the long run. I want the boys in this program to fall in love with this game and learn it along the way.
Like many of the youth programs in this area, Carroll Manor too has produced a LOT of GREAT lacrosse players over the years……and it was no accident. It was the hard work of those around this great program in addition to the boys that have come through it. We will continue with that same tradition this year and beyond.
