About Our Coaches

8U – Ryan Ward

Ryan Ward has been coaching youth sports for the past four years, including baseball with LTRC, outdoor soccer with LTRC and indoor soccer with Loch Raven. Growing up, Ryan was a multi-sport athlete who played soccer, football, baseball, and hockey, giving him a deep appreciation for the value of sports in a child’s development.  Ryan is passionate about helping young athletes develop their skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for the game. He believes youth sports provide valuable opportunities to learn teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and resilience—lessons that extend far beyond the field.

Professionally, Ryan spent 15 years working in finance before transitioning to the mental health field. For the past seven years, he has worked as a licensed mental health therapist and owns a private practice serving individuals and families in the community.

9U – Mike Lynch

Mikey Lynch is a Baltimore County police office who serves as the Resource Officer at Carroll Manor Elementary, where his son currently attends and all other children previously attended. Mike’s baseball experience runs deep having played at a very high level and he also spent several years coaching his older stepssons teams.   When he’s not serving the community or coaching on the diamond, Mike operates a tactical training business, where he continues to teach, mentor, and lead others. Mike is excited to help build the Cardinals 9U team and share his passion for the game with the next generation of players. Please join me in welcoming Mike to the Cardinals community.

10U – Kevin Salamone

Kevin has been coaching youth sports in the Carroll Manor area for over six years and has coached travel baseball for the last four years. Kevin played Varsity baseball at Archbishop Curley High School and college baseball at McDaniel College, where he achieved All-Conference his senior year. After college, Kevin spent two seasons as assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University. Kevin also currently coaches a local 5th grade travel basketball team called the “Phoenix Fury”.

Kevin’s two sons, Hunter and Ace, attend Jacksonville Elementary School. 

Professionally, he has worked for the Social Security Administration for over 16 years as a Policy Analyst and Project Manager.

Kevin believes in creating a fun and positive baseball culture where players enjoy coming to practice and working hard to improve their skills and understanding of the game.

10U – Travis Heller

Travis Heller has been coaching youth baseball in Baltimore County for four years, serving most recently as the head coach in the Rookie League at Carroll Manor Baseball for the past two years. Travis played youth baseball for 10 years and was a multi-sport high school athlete in his hometown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Professionally, Travis has worked in Contracting and Procurement for the federal sector for the past 15 years in the Baltimore / Washington DC area.

Travis is dedicated to helping young players build confidence, improve their skills, and learn the valuable lessons that baseball can teach, both on and off the field.

Travis Heller

11U – Ryan Fox

As an up-and-coming 9U travel baseball coach, Ryan brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game to the field. As a multi-year three-sport varsity letterman in baseball, basketball and football, he understands the dedication, fundamentals, skill and athleticism required to excel in sports. He has over 15+ years of coaching experience across a variety of sports, coaching athletes ranging from 4 years of age through seniors in high school. This diverse coaching background has equipped him with versatile techniques and the ability to connect with young athletes. His goal is to foster a positive, competitive environment where players can develop their skills, learn the importance of teamwork, and cultivate a lifelong love and respect of baseball.

11U – Jamie Bakert

Jamie Bakert has been proudly coaching Carroll Manor Baseball for over five years, starting in tee ball and serving as head coach in the Rookie League for the past three years. He has also been an assistant coach for the rising 11U Cardinals team for the past two years and is excited to coach the inaugural 9U Cardinals alongside Ryan Fox. In his early years, Jamie played both varsity baseball and American Legion in Chatham, New Jersey.

When he’s not on the baseball field, he enjoys golfing and traveling with his wife, two sons, and daughter, who all attend Carroll Manor Elementary School. He also leads the Junior Golf program at Eagle’s Nest Country Club and serves on the Education Foundation for Baltimore County Public Schools and the Carroll Manor Recreational Council.

Professionally, Jamie has worked in technology for over 20 years and currently leads a team at Microsoft that partners with schools and hospitals.

Jamie believes baseball should be competitive yet enjoyable, fostering a love for the game and a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Jamie Bakert

12ULucas Chrencik

Lucas Chrencik has been involved in Carroll Manor’s baseball program for six years from coach pitch to an assistant coach for the 9U team to this being his third season as the head coach this Cardinals team. He is beyond thrilled to be taking this team to Cooperstown All Star Village in June 2027.  Lucas prides himself at being able to make baseball both fun and competitive so that his players are continuously developing.  His philosophy centers around getting players as many reps as possible at practice so they are confident when an opportunity arises to make a play during a game.

By day, Lucas is a defense attorney with Goodell DeVries Leech & Dann LLP in Baltimore, Maryland, working with physicians and hospitals in various medical malpractice and other lawsuits.

12UAnant Saran

With over 15 years of coaching experience, Anant Saran or “Saran”, brings a deep passion for sports and a commitment to helping young athletes grow on and off the field.  Saran’s coaching philosophy centers around player development, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and mental toughness.  Whether mentoring new players or pushing experienced athletes to reach the next level, Saran takes pride in fostering an environment where kids can build confidence, compete hard, and develop a lifelong long love for the game.

Outside of coaching, Saran serves as a Finance Director at a nonpublic school, where he combines strategic leadership with a heart for education and community.

Anant Saran

13U – Ted Sanders

Ted Sanders is entering his eighth year of coaching youth baseball, having developed players through every level from T-ball and coach-pitch to rookie ball. For the past four seasons, he has served as an assistant coach with the Carroll Manor Cardinals and is now stepping into the head coaching role for the Cardinals Rising 13U team. In addition to his work on the diamond, Ted stays active in the local sports community coaching Carroll Manor rec soccer and basketball.

Professionally, Ted has worked as a software engineer in the medical field for the past 25 years developing EHR/Practice Management systems.  Outside of work and sports, he enjoys fishing with his two sons and spending time with his family.
