Baltimore Best Umpires Association holds training classes for new umpires each Fall and Spring baseball season.  The classes for Fall baseball form in August and the classes for Spring baseball form in January, February, or March.  Please contact either Mike Schilpp (717) 715-5640, Ron Adamski (443) 324-3344, or Jade Megginson (443) 769-5384 to get signed up and get your name on the next class list.  Class sizes are limited.

Open to anyone 14 Years old and up.

The training is comprised of three parts:

  • Part I – Classroom work
  • Part II – Schedule cage work to master the skills of calling Balls/Strikes
  • Part III – Umpiring scrimmage games 

How much are game fees? You can be paid any where in the range of $64 to $80 per game

What is the cost to get started? Your initial cost to get umpire gear can be any where from
$100 to $200 depending on your quality of gear. A list will be provided to you prior to the class room work.

What do I need for the training classes? For the first couple of classes, you will not need your full gear, but you will need it when we move to the cage work.

Is there any cost to attend? There is no cost to attend the classes. We ask, however, that you only attend if you are willing to be committed to learning, having fun, and trying to umpire at a future game.
