CMRC
Express (Travel) Soccer FAQ
Who is eligible to play?
The age group is determined by age as of August
1, 200?. So, as an example to play U-8, the child 8th
birthday needs to be after August 1, 200?;
What
is the commitment?
It is up to each Coach to create the practice / league
schedule
for their team.
However, on average the commitment is something like –
-
One
or two practices
a week in July and August.
- One
practice a week
in September, October, early November
-
League
games can be
either Saturday or Sunday. Some teams play in both leagues
(Baltimore Beltway and Central Maryland).
-
Away
League games
will be in places like Fallston, Lutherville, Overlea, Towson,
Hereford.
Home games will be at Carroll Manor Elem or Hydes.
-
One
or two
tournaments (again, usually Lutherville, Fallston, Overlea, although
some teams do play at Gettysburg in August).
Do
we need to go to every try-out? The
more try-outs you can make, the better
the coaches can evaluate everyone. So, yes, plan on attending
as
many try-outs
as you can.
What
is the cost to play? Again,
depends on the schedule for the age
group. Expect the cost to be in the range of $100 to $200.
The
higher number
would apply if new travel uniforms are needed.
What
about
playing and paying for Rec?
You need to fill
out the CMRC registration form.
Each coach
will be reimbursed a
portion of the money from CMRC. If your travel team only
plays in
the Sunday
League, your child has the option of still playing in the Rec Program
on
Saturdays.
Is
anything
else needed?
Yes.
In order to play in the League, each player needs to obtain a photo ID
Card. We
will arrange through your coach for the League to come to Jacksonville
one evening to make this easier.
It costs about $5 and you need to bring a birth certificate.
