The Carroll Manor Fitness Program offers a variety of classes.


NEW* KICKBOXING

Kickboxing is a form of martial arts derived from karate. Ours is non-contact and provides a good aerobic workout. Kickboxing can increase muscle strength as well as cardiovascular health. Not only are you using back, chest, and core strength to turn your body into the punches and kicks, but you’re constantly keeping your arms elevated. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle with this fun and challenging workout.

Cardio kickboxing combinations are a mix of punches like:

  • jabs
  • crosses
  • hooks
  • uppercuts

Lower body movements include:

  • knee strikes
  • front kicks
  • roundhouse kicks
  • side kicks
  • back kicks

Classes also incorporate a warmup and cool down as well as both dynamic and static stretching. Despite the name, cardio kickboxing is a noncontact workout. It’s a high-energy workout that can burn up to 350/450 calories an hour.

Strength / Barre

A chair is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. Also, don’t be surprised if your class incorporates light handheld weights to bring the burn during all those reps, as well as mats for targeted core work.

Cancellation Policy

The Fitness Program Follows Baltimore County School Closings.  We do not follow the Hereford Zone closings.

  • Whenever schools are closed for the entire day for inclement weather (snow, heat, hurricane, etc.) then all fitness classes are canceled.
  • If Baltimore County Schools open 1 or 2 hours late due to inclement weather, all morning classes will be canceled. Evening classes will be held as usual.
  • When schools close early for inclement weather, evening classes will be canceled (regardless of weather improvement).
  • If schools do not close early, but ANY PHASE of the snow emergency plan goes into effect at any time, then evening classes are canceled.

  • When schools are closed for major holidays, (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) then all fitness classes are generally canceled. The instructor will announce any exception in class.
  • Cancellations or relocation of a class are sometimes required due to school sponsored activities. Instructors will announce these changes as they are identified.
